Zenfolio | the 30 birds | Hyderabad - Mazars of the Kalhoros and Talpurs Album

The tombs of two great early modern dynasties of Sindh, who oversaw (and financed) Sindh's cultural and literary renaissance of the 18th and early 19th centuries. The Kalhoros claim descent from Hz. Abbas, the Prophet's (S) uncle, and were originally a lineage of Sufi pirs of Sindh. The Talpurs, their erstwhile Baluchi military elite, took over from them in the late 18th century. Once upon a time located outside the town of Hyderabad, the tomb complexes would have provided an impressive welcome for visitors. Now, of course, they've fallen victim to urban sprawl, swallowed up by new neighborhoods.
