The mausoleum complex of Zengi Ata, a 13th century mystic (and disciple of the poet-saint Khwaja Ahmad Yasawi) is a popular weekend destination for Tashkentis wanting to escape the urban hustle-bustle. Built in classical Timurid style, and recently renovated with housing for travelers and pilgrims. A surprising proportion of visitors are newly-weds in search of blessings.
