Part of the greater mountainous region known historically as Kohistan-e Kabul. Parwan, located directly north of the province of Kabul, is the gateway into Afghan Turkestan through the Salang tunnel, or Bamian to the west, or the the Panjshir Valley, and Kapisa to the northeast. Here, one can enjoy fresh fish where the Ghorband meets the Pamaher river in little huts on stilts jutting out into the water, with a stellar view of mountains (and a ferris wheel) in the distance.
